Bixby Graduate Chandler Miller Stars for TU

Bixby High School graduate Chandler Miller is a two-year starter for the Tulsa Golden Huuricane. The junior center, who stands at 6-3 and weighs 293, has played and started all 26 career games and is a returning first-team American Athletic Conference performer. He is a preseason watch list candidate for the 2017 Rimington Award and 2017 Outland Trophy.

In 2016, Miller started all 13 games and led an offensive line that helped pave the way for an offense that gained 300+ rushing yards in a school record eight games, and ranked fourth in the NCAA for total offense and eighth for rushing offense. Miller graded over 90-percent in eight games and earned first-team all-conference honors. He was named to the Rimington Award preseason Watch List. He played 77 snaps and graded at 86 percent vs. San Jose State in the season opener and played 63 snaps vs. North Carolina A&T and graded at 90 percent. He graded 85-percent on 101 snaps at Fresno State and played 106 snaps and graded 92-percent against SMU. Vs. Houston, graded 91 percent on 94 snaps. He played 81 snaps and graded at 90 percent vs. Tulane and graded at 86-percent on 87 plays at Memphis. He played 97 snaps and graded at 89 percent against East Carolina and had a 94-percent grade on 67 snaps at Navy. He graded 90-percent on 82 plays vs. UCF and played 105 snaps and graded 93-percent against Cincinnati.

In 2015, Miller played and started all 13 games as a red-shirt freshman. He started his first career game in the season opener vs. FAU.

In 2014 Miller was one of several true freshmen to sit out the 2014 season due to red-shirt status.

At Bixby High School Miller was a three-year letterwinner and starter where he played center, right guard and left tackle in his prep career. He earned Tulsa World first-team all-state and all-metro honors as a senior and also was also named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association East all-state team, He was selected to The Oklahoman first team all-state squad and was ranked 22nd among the top-36 players in the state of Oklahoma by 247Sports Ratings. Miller was named to The Oklahoman’s Super 30, ranking 20th overall and helped pave the way for the Bixby offense to average over 350 yards per game as a senior. His high school coach was Loren Montgomery.

Miller says his favorite sports movie is Remember the Titans. He enjoys golfing and his favorite TV show is “24.” His favorite NFL team is the Dallas Cowboys, and Travis Frederick is his favorite NFL player. He has gained 100 pounds since his freshman year of high school. His favorite book is the Bible, while his favorite pro athlete is golfer Jordan Spieth. His favorite actor is Tom Cruise. The Eagles is his favorite musical group. He has two younger siblings and his parents are Ron and Stephanie Miller. He is an accounting major and was born April 16, 1996, in Plano, Texas.
