Bixby parent Joely Flegler will hold her third annual Not Your Mama’s Craft Show on Oct. 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Flegler has three children in the Bixby school system and is on the Bridge the Gap committee.
She created the craft show as a way to support the district. Proceeds from the event benefit Bixby Public Schools libraries.
Last year, Flegler donated a total of $1,700, which was distributed among the school sites.
The show will be located at 5416 E. 118th St., in Flegler’s front yard, with an admission cost of $5.
Vendors have grown for each year of the show, with 25 expected for this year’s event, she says.
Items on sale will include pottery, jewelry, home decor, yard signs and books. Food will also be available.
For the inaugural year of the craft show, Flegler donated proceeds to the art teachers at North Elementary and Intermediate.
However, after discovering that school libraries’ main source of revenue to purchase new books is through its book fair, she decided that she wanted to aid the cause and promote reading.
“All students use the library, so I wanted to do something to help,” she says.
