Bixby North to Hold Annual Fundraiser

Bixby North Elementary and Intermediate PTA is set to host its third annual Agora Spartan Craft Market fundraising event on Saturday, April 8, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The event will be held in the Intermediate’s gymnasium at 7701 E. 121st St. S.
In ancient Greece, an agora was the community marketplace or public square. Similarly, the third annual Agora Spartan Craft Market will serve as its own marketplace, hosting more than 80 vendors.

Bixby High School Teacher of the Year

Randall Briggs has been named Bixby High School’s Teacher of the Year.

Before becoming a teacher, Briggs served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. When asked what led him into teaching, he recalls walking toward a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter with a group of officers including the squadron commander and asking the group a trivia question, “Does anyone know why the UH-60’s tail rotor is tilted at an angle of 20 degrees off of vertical?” No one knew, so he explained. The squadron commander told him then that he ought to be a school teacher one day.

In January, the Bixby Chamber of Commerce hosted Superintendent Dr. Kyle Wood for his annual State of the District address.
