Tulsa Chamber Announces 2017 Intercity Visit to Fort Worth

In October, the Tulsa Regional Chamber and community representatives will make their eighth Intercity Visit, this year to Fort Worth, Texas. The annual Intercity Visit program focuses on peer cities in order to learn best practices and hear success stories.

“This year’s trip is going to offer many outstanding learning opportunities,” says Steve Bradshaw, Tulsa Regional Chamber chair-elect and president and CEO of BOK Financial Corp.

“I’m especially excited to learn more about Fort Worth’s Trinity River Vision, which is their master plan for the Trinity River,” he says. “It includes building strong connections between the river corridor and the rest of the city. I think there’s a lot of overlap between the work being done there and where we want to go here in the Tulsa region.”

Bradshaw also points to work being done around downtown development and healthy initiatives as key reasons why Fort Worth was selected as this year’s destination.

According to Mike Neal, president and CEO of the Tulsa Regional Chamber, Intercity Visits afford attendees invaluable opportunities to build relationships with others from our region.

“Intercity Visit attendees always include a mix of elected officials, business leaders, regional partners, educational administrators, and young professionals,” says Neal. “Last year’s trip drew more than 100 people from all of these areas within our region. The feedback we consistently hear is that the attendee conversations that take place during these trips are every bit as enlightening as all of the great ideas we hear from the host city.”

The 2017 Intercity Visit takes place Oct. 3-5, and online registration is now open, at tulsachamber.com/forms/2017-intercity-visit-fort-worth/.

The trip’s agenda will include elements of economic development, education and workforce, and tourism, among other topics.

Included in the activities will be an opening night reception that will be at held Stockyards Station. Located in the heart of the Fort Worth stockyards, Stockyards Station is a blend of old and new, with historic walking tours and more than 25 unique shops.

Also, a group dinner will take place at the Fort Worth Club. For more than 125 years, the Fort Worth Club has served as a focal point for community leadership and camaraderie within the city.

Past Intercity Visits have gone to Cincinnati (2016); Nashville (2015); Portland (2014); Pittsburgh (2013); Charlotte (2012); Indianapolis (2011); and Louisville (2010).
