Fashion’s in the Details This Spring

When it comes to spring fashions, details will dominate. That means necklines with flair, unique embellishments, and bold-colored beading.

“I love transitioning into spring wardrobes because we can get rid of the warm layers and show off our flirty sides,” said said Vivian Behrens, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of maurices, a nationally known, community-based retailer. “This year we’ll see fun necklines, and a variety of flattering shaped tops such as a banded bottom top, and soft fabrics that drape and tease.”

“We’re not talking a total fashion makeover,'' said Behrens. ''You’ll get a fresh new look at a fraction of the price by adding a few key pieces to your existing wardrobe.”

Here’s a rundown of this spring’s biggest trends:

Your Feminine Side, Embellished
Tops will be made of soft fabrics and feature halter and cowl necklines. Three-dimensional embellishments, including ruffles and roses, add feminine details. Plus, beautiful rose-colored tones turn up the romance and sophistication.

Fun Florals, a Spring Classic Revisited
From intricate patterns to oversized blooms, floral prints will flourish. Shades of wild aster, bluebell and violet make palettes pop. Full, pleated floral dresses and skirts will command the scene at garden parties, graduations and other spring gatherings.

Handcrafted Touches Add Touch of Hip
Embroidery, braiding, and colorful seed beads add fun embellishment to tunics and peasant tops. Unique shoes and sandals feature their share of beads, too. This look is great for weekends or casual evenings out with friends, whether taking in an art show or an outdoor concert.

Be a Free Spirit
Peace symbols live on in spring fashion. Along with this timeless sign, casual looks feature an eclectic mix of prints and patterns, antiqued trims, and washed and worn fabrics. Casual is in for all wardrobe elements, including tiered skirts, maxi dresses and hoodies. If it feels good, people can wear it.

Behrens says maurices understands everyone wants to be fashionable. They offer sizes 1-24 online at www.maurices.com and in most of their stores. For a firsthand look at the latest spring fashions, visit the maurices’ website.
