Recently, preschoolers from The Goddard School, 11302 S. Elm St., in Jenks, engaged in a month-long study of earth sciences and sustainability. As part of their lesson and the school’s Root For Earth celebration, students adopted a family of caterpillars to observe their development stages from caterpillar to butterfly. Students, then, released the butterflies into the wild in order for the butterflies to help pollenate the area.

Goddard’s Root For Earth celebration engages preschoolers in a range of activities and eco-friendly projects inspired by STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) with the goal of fostering creativity and imagination through instruction about recycling and other green practices.
