Jenks Student Wins Outstanding Teen

PAGEANT ADVANCEMENT: Seventh grader Georgia Matlack will compete in the Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, to be held in June, after recently being named 2018 Miss Grand Lake’s Outstanding Teen.

Jenks lifer Georgia Matlack was recently named 2018 Miss Grand Lake’s Outstanding Teen.

Matlack will next compete for the state title at the Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in June. Winners continue on to Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, which is the little sister to the Miss America Pageant.

The Outstanding Teen organization provides over $33 million in cash and scholarships annually. The organization is aimed at helping young people develop strong values, leadership skills, social conscience, self-worth and conviction about their own potential.

Matlack is in seventh grade at Jenks Middle School and is 12 years old. While Matlack is younger than many of the girls who have held the title of Miss Grand Lake’s Outstanding Teen, Matlack represented herself and her platform of heart health so well that she was able to win the crown while competing against high school students from various cities in Oklahoma.

In both state and local competitions, each contestant engages in a personal interview with a qualified panel of judges, performs a talent of her choice, competes in evening gown and active wear in order to promote health and fitness, and answers on-stage questions.

Now that Matlack has won a place at state, she is using her recent win to become an even bigger advocate for heart health, participate in community service on a larger scale, and represent girls who want to live healthy, goal-oriented lives throughout the state of Oklahoma.

Matlack has been on stage and screen since the age of three. She is represented by agents in both Los Angeles and Dallas and has acted in over 33 films, commercials and stage productions. She was chosen by Pageantry Magazine as a Who’s Who in Pageantry, having previously won titles such as International Junior Miss and USA Ambassador. When she isn’t performing, she enjoys cheering for Jenks Middle School, working with her vocal coach, volunteering, writing, learning Chinese, and spending time with friends.
