Jenks Names District Teacher of the Year

Amy Greenhaw of Jenks High School has been named the 2017-18 Jenks Public Schools District Teacher of the Year. Greenhaw is an instructor of Special Education English at Jenks High School.

A native of Enid, Oklahoma, Greenhaw has worked at Jenks during her entire 16-year teaching career. Her selection marks the second straight year an educator from Jenks High School has been named District Teacher of the Year. Shala Marshall, a Spanish teacher at JHS, received the honor last year.

Respected by her colleagues for her dedication and leadership, and loved by her students for her ability to inspire, engage, and create a positive learning culture, Greenhaw is continuously searching for ways to improve her site and ignite a passion within the teenagers who sit in her classroom.

“The simple answer as to why I do what I do is the students,” Greenhaw remarked. “My students motivate me to be the best teacher I can be. I strive to help them focus on being a better person, learner, and citizen. I want them to know I believe in them. Teaching students who have not been successful in the past and seeing them achieve success in the present, is the ultimate inspiration for me.”
