Teachers Gather for Tulsa Teacher Institute

COMMUNITY SUPPORT: Community supporters, including members of City Year Tulsa, Growing Together and First United Methodist Church, await the arrival of Tulsa Public Schools teachers at the Cox Business Center in downtown Tulsa for the Tulsa Teacher Institute held Aug. 17-18.

In preparation for the start of the 2016-2017 school year, Tulsa Public Schools held its Tulsa Teacher Institute, a two-day professional learning conference.

On Aug. 17, all 2,800 TPS teachers met at the Cox Business Center in downtown Tulsa to focus on creating strong school cultures by building relationships and implementing best practices for classroom management.

On Aug. 18, teachers attended break-out sessions at various school and district buildings where they learned in groups based on grade level and subject area and explored new resources and strategies for teaching and learning that helps prepare students for college, careers and life.
