TPS Pre-K Enrollment Begins Feb. 5

Enrollment in Tulsa Public Schools’ pre-kindergarten program for the 2018-2019 school year opened Monday, Feb. 5. All district pre-kindergarten programs are free and full-day.

Additionally, on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6, the Oklahoma Caring Van will provide free immunizations for incoming students.

Parents and guardians of children who will be four years old on or before Sept. 1, 2018, are encouraged to enroll online at tulsaschools.org/enroll or in person at the district’s Enrollment Center at 2819 S. New Haven Ave., in Tulsa.

The Enrollment Center is open on weekdays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., except for school holidays. Families are also invited to attend any of the district’s pre-kindergarten open houses to learn more about the program. Open house information is available at tulsaschools.org/enroll under the “pre-kindergarten” tab.

To complete enrollment, parents and guardians will need a government-issued photo ID, the child’s birth certificate and immunization records, and proof of residence – such as a utility bill or rental agreement. These documents can be attached to the online enrollment application using a scanner or by uploading a picture from a smart phone. Parents who plan to enroll at the Enrollment Center should bring these documents.

The short- and long-term benefits of starting school in pre-kindergarten are well documented and include significant academic gains in math, literacy, and applied problem-solving, as well as an increased likelihood of earning a high school diploma.
