Merit Semifinalists

Eight Union High School seniors have been named 2017 National Merit Semifinalists:

• Grant Hizer, son of Lisa Guertin of Broken Arrow;
• Killian Kane, son of Kelly and Jennifer Kane of Tulsa;
• Alexander Labbane, son of Mondher and Cheryl Labbane of Broken Arrow;
• Joseph Liu, son of Ti-Chung and Kelly Liu of Tulsa;
• Ferdinand Mudjialim, son of Andy Mudjialim and Tan Fang Fang of Broken Arrow;
• Tony Nguyen, son of Henry and Tammy Nguyen of Tulsa;
• Hannah Rondthaler, daughter of Timothy Rondthaler and Joanne Call of Tulsa; and
• Josephine Uerling, daughter of Steve and Alicia Uerling of Broken Arrow.

 They are among approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

These seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33 million that will be offered next spring.
