Union Spotlights November Seniors of the Month




Tyler Cox and Josie Uerling have been named November Seniors of the Month for Union High School.

Cox is the son of Donnie and Gayla Cox of Broken Arrow.

He is a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, president of TeePee Crew, co-president of MESH Connect, treasurer of National Honor Society, a member of the varsity golf and varsity bowling teams, and serves as a small group leader at Asbury United Methodist Church. At Asbury, Cox is also active in Second Saturday and has attended mission trips in the United States and abroad. He will visit Guatemala during spring break. His school-related awards and honors include the Sons of the Revolution Leadership Award and Team Captain of the Golf Team. He also received All-State Bowling Selection this year.

Cox plans to attend the University of Oklahoma or the University of Alabama and study accounting, with his intention to earn a Certified Personal Accountant (CPA) certification.

Uerling is the daughter of Stevie and Alicia Uerling of Broken Arrow.

She is active in swimming as swim team captain – holding six home school records, and is a 12-time state finalist in swimming. She is also active in Red Cross Club as publicist, National Honor Society and Interact Club. Honors include being named a National Merit Semifinalist, Homecoming Queen, Miss Union Royalty in 2017, and Advanced Placement scholar. Honors include being a swimming state finalist and a top-three swimming sectionals. She is also an Oklahoma Senior Athletics representative.

Uerling plans to swim in college and study pre-medicine, eventually pursuing a career in the medical field. She has not yet decided where she will attend college.
