2007 Spirit of Will Rogers Award
In celebration of the 128th birthday of Will Rogers, the Rotary Club of Will Rogers’ “Good ride, Cowboy,” Gala will be held Sunday, Nov. 4 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Tulsa. Garth Brooks will be accepting the Spirit Award during the program. A reception will begin at 5 p.m. with dinner and program immediately following.
With album sales totaling over 116 million, Garth has received every honor the recording industry can present to an artist, from Grammy’s to American Music Awards. Brooks is currently retired and has turned his attention to his family and charity. Brooks’ foundation Teammates For Kids has teamed up with talented and generous professional baseball, hockey and football players whose on-field/on-ice performances determine their donations. Garth is most proud of the fact that 100 percent of the players’ donations are tripled by the foundation and 100 percent of the money is given to the children with the focus on health, education and inner-city needs.
