2010 US Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup Expected to Bring Over $3 million to Area
FRISCO, Texas (April 16, 2010) – The2010 US Youth Soccer Region III (South) Presidents Cup, to be played June10-13 at the Indian Springs Sports Complex, is estimated to provide more than$3 million in economic impact to the Broken Arrow, Okla., area.
Local restaurants, hotels, retail stores and others will benefit from themore than 2,000 players taking part in this four day tournament. An estimated6,000 spectators are expected to be in attendance, as well.
“We cannot wait to host the 2010 US Youth Soccer Region III PresidentCup in Broken Arrow and provide the teams and their families with the perfectenvironment for this great event,” said Tom Wedding, Oklahoma YouthSoccer Association second vice president. “Oklahoma Soccer Associationis excited about the significant economic impact the Region III PresidentsCup will bring to Broken Arrow and the experience we will be able to provideto our guests from across the southern region.”
The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is an avenue of progression for US YouthSoccer teams from the state to regional to national level. ThePresidents Cup is made available to teams that might not otherwise have theopportunity to experience playing other teams from across the country in achallenging atmosphere that encourages fair play, the betterment ofindividual players and competition through US Youth Soccer.
“An event of this magnitude will have a huge impact on our city,”said Broken Arrow Mayor Mike Lester. “Because of what we can now offer,visitors have the opportunity to dine, play and stay in Broken Arrow.”
The tournament will attract as many as 120 teams in the Under-13 throughUnder-17 Boys and Girls age groups, beginning with opening ceremonies June 10and games June 11-13. Teams from the 12 US Youth Soccer State Associationsthroughout US Youth Soccer Region III, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida,Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Texas, Oklahoma, SouthCarolina, Tennessee and South Texas will be represented.
Regionalwinners of the Under-14 through Under-17 age groups advance to the 2010 USYouth Soccer National Presidents Cup to be played July 8-11 in Murfreesboro,Tenn., at the Richard Siegle Soccer Complex.
