27th Annual St. Patricks 5K Running Through Tulsa

Tulsa, Okla. The 27th Annual St. Patrick’s 5K Run event is scheduled for Saturday, March 14 in Brookside and begins at 8:30 a.m. at 43rd and Peoria, Tulsa, Okla. More than 2,000 runners are expected to compete in the 5K race. Proceeds from the run will benefit Special Olympics Oklahoma and Tulsa Running Club.

This year the awards ceremony and prize giveaway will be held immediately following the 5K run (approximately 10:15 a.m.). In 2008 the overall male winner was Ryan Ripley with a time of 15:46; and the 2008 overall female winner was Sarah Reiheart with a time of 19:54. This year, Tulsa Running Club will award a $500 bonus for a new state open 5K record. Current records are 14:07 for male and 16:06 for female.
Invited runners in the Exhibition Run include Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor; local radio and TV personalities; and Steve Kime, a.k.a. Forrest Gump. Kime will be on hand to run with the Special Olympics Athletes and assist with awards.
The registration fee is $20. All registered runners will receive a T-shirt with their registration. In person registrations will be accepted at RunnersWorld, 4329 South Peoria, Tulsa, Okla.
