3 Tulsa Businesses Win U.S. Chamber Blue Ribbon Awards

Three Tulsa companies are Blue Ribbon Winners, as announced by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The Tulsa-based Blue Ribbon Small business Award winners are:

·        Eloté Café and Catering

·        Part-Time Pros

·        The Persimmon Group

According to a press release issued by the U.S. Chamber, the winners were recognized for their critical role in job creation and economic growth and this award honors their strong commitment to their employees, customers, and community.  Part-Time  Pros and Elote are past Tulsa Entrepreneurial Spirit Award winners. Part-Time Pros was the 2010 winner of the Tulsa  Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. Elote is also a Tulsey award winner.

“These three very different businesses embody the Tulsa entrepreneurial spirit. Each one is putting people back to work. They are creating jobs through innovation and growth. Their business leadership and acumen has contributed to the quality of life in Tulsa,” Bartlett said. “Small business is the heart of our economy in Tulsa and it is a great honor to have all three Oklahoma winners in our city. The U.S. chamber has recognized nationally the excellence that Tulsans have already acknowledged.”

The release stated: “The recipients of this year’s Blue Ribbon Small Business Award are on the forefront of our economic recovery,” said Thomas J. Donohue, U.S. Chamber president and CEO.  “These Oklahoma companies represent our nation’s job creators, and this award recognizes their significant contributions to our economy.”

The Blue Ribbon Small Business Award, sponsored by Sam’s Club®, honors businesses that demonstrate excellent business practices in several areas, including strategy, employee development, community involvement, and customer service.

“These award winners are committed to putting our nation back to work.  Each has made important contributions to their employees and communities, and the Chamber is proud to recognize their achievements,” said Donohue.

This year’s 75 Blue Ribbon winners were selected from a record number of nationwide applicants and will be honored at America’s Small Business Summit 2011, May 23–25, in Washington, D.C.  On March 14, seven of the Blue Ribbon businesses will be announced as award finalists, and one will be named the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year during America’s Small Business Summit.  The winner will be presented with a $10,000 cash prize courtesy of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Blue Ribbon businesses are also eligible for the Community Excellence Award, decided in March by online public voting.  In addition, 25 Free Enterprise Honorees were commended for their strong business practices and contributions to the economy.
