66ers End Five Game Road Trip with Win Over Austin
AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 2, 2011— Elijah Millsap scored a team-high 17 points and Cole Aldrich added seven points, two blocks and a game-high 14 rebounds to lead the Tulsa 66ers (11-6) to their third consecutive victory, 110-91, Sunday evening on the road against the Austin Toros (7-9) inside Cedar Park Center.
Also in double-digit scoring for Tulsa was Jerome Dyson with 15, Larry Owens with 14 and Tweety Carter and Robert Vaden each with 11. Owens also grabbed nine rebounds while Zabian Dowdell led the 66ers with five assists.
Sunday’s game completed a five-game road trip for Tulsa, where the 66ers went 4-1. It also marked the eighth victory in the last 10 games for the 66ers.
Tulsa’s bench accounted for 54 points compared to Austin’s 25. The 66ers, who led by as many as 21 points in the contest, improved to 3-0 against the Toros this season.
Austin was led by Marcus Cousin with a game-high 22 points and 11 rebounds. Kevin Palmer chipped in 17 points.
Next up, the 66ers return to Tulsa for two games against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants this Wednesday and Friday, Jan. 5th and 7th. Both contests are scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. inside the Tulsa Convention Center.
