66ers Impress in Texas, Topple the Legends


FRISCO, Texas, Dec. 14, 2010 — The Tulsa 66ers (5-4) tallied their most points of the season Tuesday evening in a 130-116 victory over the Texas Legends (6-3) inside Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas. A season-high seven 66ers scored in double figures, led by point guard Zabian Dowdell with 22.

Also scoring in double digits for Tulsa was Elijah Millsap with 19, Larry Owens and Jerome Dyson with 18 each, Latavious Williams with 17, and Marcus Lewis and Robert Vaden with 12 and 10, respectively.

Millsap garnered a team-high seven rebounds while Owens and Tweety Carter each tallied five assists.

Offensively, Tulsa posted season highs in both field goal and 3-point percentages. The 66ers shot 48-77 (.623) from the floor, including 9-16 (.562) from beyond the arc.

Tulsa led 66-60 at halftime before expanding its lead to as many as 20 points in the third quarter with a 24-8 run. The 66ers improved to 3-2 this season on the road and recorded their first victory over Texas, who is competing in its first season in the D-League.

The Legends were led in scoring by Antonio Daniels with 22 and in rebounds by Reece Hampton and Matt Rogers with nine boards each.

The 66ers will return to Tulsa to prepare for back-to-back home games against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants this Thursday and Friday, Dec. 16th and 17th. Both games are scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. inside the Tulsa Convention Center.
