66ers Take Out Skyforce
TULSA, Okla., March 12, 2011— Guard Jerome Dyson led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting and Byron Mullens added 19 points and six rebounds to lead the Tulsa 66ers (29-12) to a 115-100 victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce (9-31) Saturday evening inside the Tulsa Convention Center.
“I thought tonight our defense created a lot of opportunities for our offense,” 66ers head coach Nate Tibbetts said. “I thought our pressure was good and our guys really focused on getting stops.”
Also scoring in double figures for Tulsa was Elijah Millsap with 19, Robert Vaden and Matt Bouldin with 12 each and Latavious Williams with 10. The 66ers improved to 15-1 this season with six 66ers post double figures in scoring.
Offensively, Tulsa shot 48-87 (.552) from the floor and led by as many as 20 points. As a team, Tulsa totaled 23 assists, led by Dyson and Bouldin with five each.
“We play our best when we are sharing the basketball,” Tibbetts said. “The game is about sharing and giving everyone an opportunity. Guys stepped up and made shots.”
The 66ers posted 60 points in the paint and notched 31 fast break points. Tulsa also outrebounded Sioux Falls 43-35 on the evening, led by a team-high 10 boards from Williams.
For the second straight night Patrick Ewing Jr., led the Skyforce with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Center Raymond Sykes also added 21 points and forward Chris McCray totaled a game-high six assists.
Next up, the 66ers travel to Utah to take on the Flash this Monday, March 14, at 8 p.m. CT. The contest will mark the first of four consecutive road games for Tulsa next week.
