Airport Taxiway Ramp Earns Excellence Award

A recently constructed taxiway ramp at Tulsa International Airport has received recognition from the Oklahoma/Arkansas Chapter of the American Concrete Pavement Association as a silver winner in the Commercial Airports category for Excellent Concrete Pavement.

The Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust accepted the award recenlty, along with the construction manager PSA Dewberry and contractor TTK Construction. A $1.2 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration provided most of the funding for the project.

Construction of the taxiway ramp began in October 2007 and was completed in February 2008.

This improvement project is part of Tulsa International Airport’s preparations for potential development in the area between the two parallel runways and south of Port Road. Two leases already are in place, with construction nearly complete on one hangar and soon to commence on another facility. The taxiway provides direct access to the main runway, and several additional parcels are available and ready for development.
