Akins’ Campaign Feeds Hungry

CHECK-OUT PROCEEDS: Akins and their customers teamed up with the food bank of Eastern Oklahoma to feed hungry people both in Oklahoma and in 24 countries. Akin’s Natural Foods Market and their customers donated $2,350 to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, translating into $21,150 worth of food donated through their annual “Check-Out Hunger” campaign drive. In October, Akin’s customers were able to make monetary donations to The Food Bank through Akin’s Check-Out Hunger campaign.
The Food Bank is able to distribute $9 worth of food for each dollar donated by Akins customers to more than 460 partner programs throughout a 24-county area. In turn, those programs collectively feed 50,000 people each week.
This is Akin’s sixth year to conduct their “Check-Out Hunger” drive. The 2004 contributions far exceed previous year donations.
“We are pleased to partner with the Community Food Bank to help feed fellow Oklahomans,” says Eric Hinkefent, president of Akin’s Natural Foods Market. “ We thank our customers for participating with us and supporting this fantastic organization.”
