Andrea Joyce Signs National Letter of Intent for the University of Kansas Rowing Team

At 12pm on November 10th, 2010 Andrea Joyce a student at Holland Hall signed a national letter of intent to row at the University of Kansas. Andrea started rowing with the Tulsa Rowing Club in February of 2008. Within three short months, Andrea became a regional champion in the Women’s Junior Novice Fours. In addition to this accomplishment Andrea was a regional runner up in the Women’s Novice Eights. In 2009, Andrea was a member of the Tulsa Rowing Club’s women’s varsity eight and competed successfully once more at the Central District regional championship. This time she became a regional champion at the varsity level in the eight. In 2010, the same crew again raced successfully and was regional runner up.
In addition to her accomplishments on the water, Andrea has broken ergometer records at the club and has the fourth fastest 2k time for a female junior at the club.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Andrea and I look forward to watching her progress with her rowing over the next four years”, said Coach Neil Bergenroth, a member of the science faculty at the school and Head Coach of the Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors.
The Tulsa Rowing Club is currently recruiting high school age athletes looking to create this kind of scholarship opportunity at the collegiate level.
