BA Water Supply Test Results Negative for Contaminants
City Manager Thom Moton is rescinding the water emergency in conjunction with lifting the precautionary boil advisory issued on Tuesday, June 11.
Testing of Broken Arrow’s water supply showed no presence of contaminants.
“I am very excited at this news,” said Broken Arrow Mayor Craig Thurmond. “I was up all night worrying about this city. I am extremely glad our community can return to a sense of normalcy.”
The Tulsa County Health Department has been notified of the results and is working with the City of Broken Arrow to contact food service entities affected by the boil advisory.
“I cannot express enough the appreciation we have for our water customers, both residents and businesses, in helping the City through this emergency,” said City Manager Thom Moton. “This community has demonstrated extreme understanding under dire circumstances. I am delighted Broken Arrow’s water supply system was able to maintain its integrity throughout the city. This is a reflection of our well-trained staff that operates the system and the tremendous response to engage the community to assist in reducing water usage during this time. Because of this, we were able prevent substantial damage to the system.”
The Utilities Department and members of the Engineering and Construction Department worked around the clock to repair the damaged line and restore water to the City.
“This is great news,” said Broken Arrow Engineering and Construction Manager Kenneth Schwab. “The testing proves that the quality of the water delivered to our customers during this emergency was compliant with regulatory standards. It was safe for consumption and did not pose a threat to human health.”
The City Manager’s Office was in contact communication with the Tulsa County Health Department Food Protection Division, the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality and Oklahoma Ordnance Works Authority () staff throughout the water situation.
“I would be remiss if I did not recognize the organizations that helped us through this situation,” Moton said. “These organizations were instrumental in aiding the City’s response and recovery to the water emergency. I want to personally thank them for their cooperation.”
Water customers can return to normal water usage.
