B.A. Bash Has Trash on the Run

TRASH KIDS: Lots of volunteers turned out to help on Trash Bash Day in Broken Arrow. These youngsters were part of the Radio Disney team.

On Saturday, April 18, Broken Arrow held its third annual spring Broken Arrow Trash Bash sponsored by the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce and Broken Arrow’s Beautification Committee.

193 volunteers set out to clean 27 miles of core streets, parks and trails throughout the city. The Beautification Committee presented a special community award to Radio Disney AM 1380 for their outstanding efforts in recruiting the largest number of volunteers. A holly tree was planted at the Vietnam Memorial area in Broken Arrow to recognize Radio Disney’s active participation in this community project.

An additional planting before the Trash Bash included a crepe myrtle tree at Neinhuis Park from a donation of $7,500 from the Arvest/Walton Family Foundation. Betsy Gerber, senior vice president, Arvest Bank and Broken Arrow Horticulturalist Chris Ohler helped city staff plant the tree. The project is part of the Broken Arrow Beautification Committee Commemorative Tree program.
