Baseball Hosts Oakland in Summit League Opening Weekend

The Golden Grizzlies enter the weekend with a 5-15 overall record. Oakland suffered a 13-6 defeat at Notre Dame on Tuesday. Head Coach John Musachio is 42-79 in his third year with the Golden Grizzlies. Oakland’s offense is led by outfielder Tim Ryan, who enters the weekend with a .358 batting average. Ryan also tops the squad with eight stolen bases. On the mound Oakland owns a 7.67 team ERA. Starting pitcher Kyle Teague leads the way with a 2-3 record and 5.67 ERA. Teague has struck out 31 batters in 33.1 innings pitched.

ORU played perhaps its most complete game of the season in a 7-4 win at Texas-Arlington on Tuesday. Using small ball and a strong relief effort, the Golden Eagles snapped a three-game losing streak.

Johnson tossed three innings in relief, allowing an unearned run on two hits to earn his first victory. Johnson struck out four without a walk. Lefty Mark Guest started and allowed three runs on four hits in 4.0 innings.
Joey Winiecki had three hits to lead ORU, while Tyler Saladino, Chris Elder and Colby Priceeach collected two hits as part of ORU’s 11-hit attack.
