How do you combine beautiful women, fashion, food and fun all while raising money for a good cause?

Just ask Nic Wehr, owner of Tulsa Sports and Events. (www.tulsasportsandevents.com). Tulsa Sports and Events is meant to help active adults stay active, social, and OFF the couch! Nic offers 18 and older leagues in coed or men and women’s teams in sports such as football, volleyball, basketball and many others.

So just why did Nic think of having girls enter a beauty and fashion show competition over the Internet and have the public vote for their favorites? As Nic started talking with many of the women in his leagues, who also happened to be beautiful, he discovered a great many of them either wanted to model or had modeling experience but no outlet to display their talents.

“Hummm,” thought Nic. The brainchild of TMBP (Tulsa Most Beautiful People contest) was born.

Nic called me to outfit and style 48 looks, choreograph and judge the competition. At first I thought “48 OUTFITS, OMG, I’m a small boutique,” especially when with the three rounds narrowing from 15 to 10 then five girls…a lot of the outfits wouldn’t even be seen and then setting the show? You don’t know who will move on to the next round so all the girls had to learn every position! Great job girls! I have never worked with a more professional, talented and sweet group of ladies!

So this is how it went down: voting started online on Sept. 15 and ended Oct. 15. On Oct. 18, the top 25 finalists from the voting were called in for a cut from 25 to 15 at Dirty’s Sports Bar and Grill, located in Jenks’ RiverWalk Crossing.

Dirty’s has been in business since April 2007. They have great drink specials, entertainment, and the best nachos around (and I don’t even like Mexican food)!

The owner Andrea and her crew went over and beyond. They built a runway with extra steps and were at our beck and call for anything we needed. Who knew a sports bar could be turned into such a classy event!

This brings me to the others involved. Class is made of people, not venues. That’s why this event was so successful! Speaking of class, Beth Davis, CEO and founder of Gold Star Referral Clubs (www.GoldStarBusiness.com), an organization that sets up local business people to network weekly to exchange referrals and increase business, organized a young professionals “meet and greet” to kick off the event. Believe me, networking was in full force at its fiercest. Beth organized the auction of fine gifts and services while Mike Ratcliff did a fabulous job of auctioneering. She was also a judge and bid and won my fashion makeover. Beth, we’re looking forward to “styling you up!”

The other judges included Nic Wehr of Tulsa Sports and Events, Richard Ghiesar, a prominent local businessman an IT manager, Dr. Tommie Dolhmann, a natural wellness doctor, and of course Josh the Plumber, our average Joe.

Michael Buttler, networker extraordinary, looked smashing in his tux as he hosted the event, while I announced the styles. What a stand up guy, literally! I had a great time up there with him. Let’s do it again soon!

Other Sponsors of the event included:
Glimpse, Xango a botanical line of skincare that changes and adapts for the needs of your skin (check them out on Facebook).
Photographic Designs Gallery located at RiverWalk Crossing. Michelle was so great to the girls.

My Today’s Women, a free publication to support, motivate, and provide info to enhance women’s lives.

Also, Aroma Diva, OK Pro Video, Balloons by Vickie, T-town Trollies and Amy Ghiesar Insurance. Thank you all!

Isabellas of Brookside provided all of the fashions and Holly Perkins, manager, assistant buyer and co-stylist and I did the styling. We also provided goodie bags for the 15 contestants.
Unfortunately, there can be only one winner and it was Jessica Voss, who won some great prizes including:

$1,000 cold hard cash. A glimpse skincare consultation and package. January’s cover issue of Today’s Women, shot by Photographic Design Gallery, styled by me on location with clothing provided by Isabellas, which included her own photo package by the Gallery and her picture feature in this column in GTR News!

Second Place went to Alicia Wallace, third to Adreanna Coffman, fourth to Christina Morris and fifth to Jennifer Beautenhausen. Congrats Girls! All of the girls conveyed to me afterwards whether they placed or not that the event helped boost their self-esteem, motivated them to go further in following their dreams and most of all they all had a lot of FUN!

What a great event! Great people, great fashion, great food and FUN! Shout out to Ziplock, my number one DJ for the after party dancing…keep it bumpin’ bro…

Nic and I are already planning our next two events to provide a venue to Tulsa for Fashion, Art, and Music…stay tuned!
