Big 12 Honors Marlowe

IRVING, Texas – For the second-straight week, an Oklahoma State player was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week as Chris Marlowe garnered the honor for games played March 7-13, it was announced today by the league office. Marlowe shared this week’s award with Texas freshman third baseman Eric Weiss.

A junior pitcher from Spring, Texas, Marlowe earned his first-career win and helped clinch a series victory in last Saturday’s game against New Mexico with a 4-3 triumph in 11 innings.

In a dominating 4.2 innings of relief work, Marlowe struck out 10 of the 16 batters he faced and did not allow a run. The Lobos managed just two hits against the right-hander as he struck out at least two in four of the five innings in which he appeared, including striking out the side in the eighth and 11th innings.

The Big 12 honors a player, pitcher and newcomer of the week every Monday during the regular season. The awards are voted on by a panel of media who cover the conference. This marks the second conference weekly award for a Cowboy player this season as Gabe Weidenaar was named the Newcomer of the Week on March 7.
