Big Red School Bus Serves Schools, Community

MOVEABLE MULTI-ROOM: The Big Red Bus is retrofitted and has a 52-inch television and a SMART Board.
The Tulsa Public Schools Big Red Bus is in business and serving the community. It’s a school bus that’s retrofitted and furnished with a 52-inch television monitor and a SMART Board-an interactive whiteboard popular with many teachers. Designed to instruct and entertain, the bus boasts a large amount of storage and table space.
The Big Red Bus made its debut Sept. 30, as Briarglen Elementary School hosted a family night.
“The bus is designed to serve students and the Tulsa community,” says Paula Wood, special assistant for school and community relations, “so its ride to a Union Public School is in keeping with its mission to accommodate any outlining educational events.”
is partnering with the Tulsa Area Community Schools Initiative, an alliance that includes 12 and six Union schools. A community school is a philosophy encompassing the whole child-from before-school activities to the use of neighborhood resources.
