Billy Sims to Appear On Cox’s Sportscene

GRAND OPENING: Billy Sims Barbecue held the grand opening for its first store, located in the Farm Shopping Center in Tulsa, in 2004. At Sims’ left is partner Jeff Jackson. The event was hosted by the Tulsa Regional Chamber. Billy Sims BBQ now has 55 stores in six states.

Oklahoma’s 1978 Heisman Trophy winning running back, Billy Sims will be a guest on the Nov. 8 and 15 Oklahoma Sportscene Shows on Yur Vision/Cox 1333 (Tulsa) & 1334 (). It can also be watched on oksportscene.com
Sims was a two-time consensus All-American at OU when he played for Coach Barry Switzer from 1975-1979. He was the number one draft pick in the 1980 Draft by the Detroit Lions where he was a three-time pro bowl player. In his five-year career Sims rushed for 5,106 yards and scored 42 touchdowns.
In 2004, Sims teamed with Jeff Jackson to open the first Billy Sims restaurant in Tulsa, OK. It has since grown to 55 locations in six states.
In 2007, a bronze statue of Sims was dedicated on the University of Oklahoma campus in Heisman Park.
