Board Member Baab Honored
Mike Baab of the Jenks Board of Education recently received the Distinguished Service Award during the annual Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA) and Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration’s Conference and Exposition.
OSSBA awards the Distinguished Service Award annually to a present or former school board member who has exhibited distinguished service to his or her school and community during his or her tenure on the school board. Factors considered in the selection include length of service and distinguished acts of service for students, school patrons, the community and the state, as well as service to OSSBA.
Baab is the current President of the Jenks Board of Education. During his eleven years of service on the board, Baab has served as President on four occasions. He donates his personal time on a regular basis to give presentations to local college classes and provide workshops on school board ethics, board member/superintendent relationships, and new board member orientation sessions. Baab also serves as Chairman of the “Russia Ends of the Earth Outreach” program at Bethany Freewill Baptist Church, is a member of the Young President’s organization, and is the past president of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce.
“Mike Baab is certainly a deserving recipient of this prestigious award,” said Dr. Keith Ballard, Executive Director of OSSBA. “Jenks Public Schools was recently honored with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and they could not have achieved this without the leadership of Mike and the collaboration of the board of education. His donation of personal time and gifts shows his dedication and service to a great public school system.”
