Bonde Qualifies for Second NCAA Event on Saturday

AUSTIN, Texas – Marvin Bonde placed 11th in the 200-meter dash on Saturday at the NCAA West Preliminary in Austin, Texas, to qualify for his second event at the 2010 NCAA Championships, held in Eugene, Ore., on June 9-12.

Bonde clocked a season-best time of 20.76 to jump four positions from his preliminary round and grab one of the two remaining spots. The junior from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, will also represent ORU in the 100-meter dash at the NCAA Championships, posting a time of 10.42 to place ninth on Friday.

Fellow junior Fredrick Brown competed in the triple jump on Saturday, placing 25th with a mark of 15.17 meters.

LaTanya Short (Grandview, Mo.) also competed in Austin on Saturday, placing 32nd in the triple jump (12.30 meters).
