Brock Turner Signs to Row with Oklahoma City University
Brock Turner, a member of Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors and student with the Christian Educational Alliance signed to study at Oklahoma City University and row on their varsity rowing team for the next four years. Brock started rowing two years ago with the Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors and is a member of their varsity boy’s team. Brock made headlines back in February of this year when he broke two long distance world records as part of a fundraiser for the team.
“Brock has the physical attributes and mental approach required for success at the college level”, said Coach Neil Bergenroth. “I have every confidence in Brock’s ability to perform well in the Oklahoma City environment. It will be an exciting place to row given all of the recent development that the city has built and is building for the future”.
Brock is the second athlete from Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors who has signed with a collegiate rowing program this season. In November of 2009, Jenks Senior Courtaney Miller committed to S.M.U. to become a member of their varsity rowing team.
“The opportunities that these two seniors have been afforded are a testament to their hard work, the supportive environment of Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors and the growth of the sport of rowing in this area of the country.”
Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors is hosting rowing lessons this in the month of June for all high school aged athletes who might be looking for similar opportunities in the sport of rowing.
