Broken ArrowPublic Schools Foundation Awards $50,000 in Grants at Sites Throughout the District
In maintaining a long-standing tradition, the Broken Arrow Public Schools Foundation closed out 2021 by awarding 62 classroom grants worth $50,000 to teachers at 21 school sites across the district.
All Broken Arrow teachers were eligible to apply for grants to help enhance educational opportunities for their students. Winning projects were determined by a committee of BAPS Foundation members based on the number of students impacted and their uniqueness.
“It is always exciting to fulfill teachers needs in the classroom on grant delivery day,” said Frankie Catlett, BAPS Foundation president. “The emotions and excitement that the teachers display makes everything the Foundation does through the year worthwhile. We are fortunate to live in a community that supports our schools and allows us to partner with the administration to enhance our kids’ educational journey.”
This year some of the grants that were funded included a printing press that will offer an array of experiences in a variety of artistic studies; STEM kits that use 100% reusable materials to cultivate interest in science and engineering classes; and interactive coding activities that will help students master the art of coding.
The BAPS Foundation raises money to fund programs that support teachers and students through annual fundraising events along with individual and corporate donations. Additional funding comes through investment proceeds from the Foundation’s endowment.
