Kudos of the Month: TCC Signature Symphony

From the music of John Williams to Bach and Broadway, Signature Symphony at Tulsa Community College has entertained for four decades. The 2018-2019 season marks this professional orchestra’s 40th anniversary.

To help celebrate the milestone, Signature Symphony will recreate the debut program, “Bach and Sons, Inc.,” 40 years after the first concert performed by the Tulsa Little Symphony. Tulsa Little Symphony would later become ’s orchestra-in-residence, Signature Symphony. The special performance will be at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26 at the VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education on the Southeast Campus.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma serves approximately 13,000 girls and volunteers in 30 eastern Oklahoma counties and is a United Way agency. The national organization as a whole is 2.6 million strong—1.8 million girls and 800,000 adults.

Kudos of the Month: The Salvation Army

With the return of the holiday season, The Salvation Army is increasing its already active efforts to help those in need.

On Nov. 10, The Salvation Army Tulsa Area Command kicked off its Red Kettle Campaign with the goal of helping more than 3,500 families over the holiday season. The organization is also conducting its annual Angel Tree program, which provides Christmas gifts to children in need.

Kudos of the Month: Tulsa State Fair

The Tulsa State Fair has returned, running Sept. 28-Oct. 8 at the Tulsa Fairgrounds, with its 2017 theme “Take a Spin!”.

In addition to the fair’s rides and food offerings, each year the Tulsa State Fair makes an effort to bring a variety of attractions with the goal to entertain and educate. This is done through its livestock shows and 4-H/FFA exhibits, culinary demonstrations, children’s exhibits and grounds shows.
