Booker T. Washington’s D.J. Jones will see that dream become reality next year when he goes to Oklahoma State University. The senior cornerback, who stands 6-0, 175 pounds, committed to the Cowboys last February.

When Booker T. Washington football comes to mind, you think of a defending Class 6AII state champion and versatility of Dax Hill. But Thomas Grayson, 5-10, 180-pound, senior running back, is also a threat for the Hornets.
Edison’s Jerome Townsell a Three-Time Champ
Jerome Townsell made history last February when he became a three-time state champion for Tulsa Edison High School.
A senior at the time, Townsell won the Class 5A 182-pound final in the state wrestling tournament in Oklahoma City. It marked his second at that weight and third overall. He won at 170 pounds as a sophomore.
BTW Girls Celebrate State Soccer Championship
Booker T. Washington is known for its tradition of state championships in sports. The school now has a trophy in its case for soccer, which comes by way of the Lady Hornets’ 1-0 win over Cascia Hall in the Class 5A girls state final in Mid-May in Sand Springs.
Tulsa Schools Dominate in State Championships
Class 5A basketball has been Tulsa Public Schools’ domain when it comes to state championships the past two seasons. A school from the system has won the gold ball in both the boys’ and girls’ title games.
BTW Boys Win State Swimming; Girls Runners-Up
Booker T. Washington’s Eli Brock was the first-place medalist in the 100-yard butterfly at the Class 5A state swimming meet Feb. 17 in Edmond.
