District Site Teachers of the Year Announced
Union Public Schools announced its 2018-2019 School Site Teachers of the Year. The District Teacher of the Year will be announced during a formal reception in February at the Union Performing Arts Center at Union High School, 6636 S. Mingo Rd.
January Seniors of the Month Named
Union High School has named Lucas Chau and Angelena Garner Seniors of the Month for January. Chau is the son of Tom and Tracy Chau of Broken Arrow, and Garner is the daughter of Christopher Garner of Tulsa.
Chau is active in cross country/track, orchestra, National Honor Society, Scottish Skins, Athletic Leadership Council and the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. He also served as a part-time tutor. He is a National Merit Semifinalist, AP National Scholar, 2018 Honor Guard member and a member of the 2018 Homecoming Court. He was a 2018 Track state qualifier in the 4×800 meter relay race and received a superior rating for a state solo content in orchestra.
Union Sophomore Scores Perfect 36 on ACT
Union High School sophomore Anthony “Tony” N. Tan has scored a perfect 36 on his test, Class Principal Marla Robinson said. He is the son of Chibing Tan and Zhimei Liang of Broken Arrow.
Ground Broken for New Eastside Clinic
Representatives of Community Health Connection (), City of Tulsa and Union Public Schools celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Eastside Clinic. Located on the campus of Ellen Ochoa Elementary, this new clinic – funded by the Vision Tulsa campaign – will provide much-needed medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services to the Northeast Oklahoma community.
Union’s Communication Department Wins Awards at Public Relations Event
The Communications Department at Union Public Schools swept the major award categories at the 2018 Silver Link Awards, the 40th anniversary of the prestigious program recognizing excellence in public relations.
Alec Gonzalez, Nadia Mustafa Named Union October Seniors of the Month
Union High School has named Alec Gonzalez and Nadia Mustafa as October Seniors of the Month. Alec is the son of Jerry and Theresa Gonzalez and Nadia is the daughter of Sumit and Naila Mustafa, all of Tulsa.
Union Students Tour During Manufacturing Month
Manufacturing Month is a nationwide celebration of modern manufacturing to inspire the next generation of makers, builders and dreamers.
By working together, manufacturers in Oklahoma and across the country are addressing the skilled labor shortage by connecting with future generations and taking charge of the public image of manufacturing to ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry. Recruiting events, facility tours for students, educators and policymakers happen throughout the month.

The Board of Education of Independent School District No. 9 of Tulsa County, Oklahoma, the Union School District, announces that statutorily qualified individuals interested in running as a candidate for member of the Board of Education to represent Election District No. 4 may file to run as a candidate for this position at the Tulsa County Election Board between the hours of 8 a.m. on Dec. 3, 2018 through 5 p.m. on Dec. 5, 2018.
