Camp Fire USA Celebrates Absolutely Incredible Kid Day
Do you know an absolutely incredible kid? Camp Fire USA thinks every child in Tulsa and the surrounding communities is absolutely incredible. The local council is gearing up to show kids just how incredible they are with the ninth annual “Absolutely Incredible Kid Day” on Thursday, March 24.
What started as an annual letter-writing campaign to tell kids how special they are has grown into a daylong event in Tulsa with community activities and support –all devoted to making kids feel special.
“Absolutely Incredible Kid Day” kicks off with a doughnut-decorating party at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, 71st St. and Hwy. 169 from 7 to 10 a.m. Children who come by the store throughout the day will receive a free doughnut and a sticker that proclaims, “I’m An Absolutely Incredible Kid.”
“We were astounded and gratified by the support and acknowledgement we received from the community last year for the kids,” Bobbie Henderson, executive director of Camp Fire USA Green Country Council said. “And we’re looking forward to that same generosity this year to help us let every child in the area know just how absolutely incredible they are.”
In the past, corporate sponsors have offered discounts and special activities for children who participate in “Absolutely Incredible Kid Day” and have helped to make the day even more special for the kids.
Everyone in the community is invited and encouraged to participate in the day’s activities as well as show the children in their lives how incredible they are by writing them a special letter.
“The reason for the letter is to offer words of love and encouragement to the children in our lives,” Henderson said. “It’s something tangible they can hold on to and keep for years to come.”
“Absolutely Incredible Kid Day” stationery is provided by Camp Fire USA free of cost and is available at Camp Fire USA and at Tulsa-area QuikTrip stores.
Adults or organizations who would like to get involved with “Absolutely Incredible Kid Day” or Camp Fire USA are encouraged to call Beverly Moore at 918-592-2267, or e-mail incrediblekids@tulsacampfire.org.
