Caroline Hedwall Wins LET Event


Tále, Slovakia ( Athletics ) — Former Oklahoma State All-American Caroline Hedwall logged her first career Ladies European Tour victory on Sunday, posting a two-stroke triumph at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open at Gray Bear Golf Club.

The 2010 Champion, Hedwall carded a 54-hole total of 205, 11-under par, at the rain-shortened event to finish two strokes clear of Christel Boeljon. Afteropening with rounds of 71 and 67, the former standout closed with another 67 to secure the victory in her eighth start as a member of the Tour.

The tournament was cut from 72 to 54 holes on Saturday due to heavy rains at the par-72, 6,296-yard layout. Hedwall resumed her third round with 10 holes remaining on Sunday in a tie with Virginie Lagoutte-Clement at 7-under. Hedwall promptly birdied her first three holes and added a fourth birdie at the 15th before logging three-straight pars to secure the win.

Hedwall earned her first professional victory in her debut in January, winning the Bing Lee Samsung Open on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf circuit.
