Carver Auditorium to be Renamed

The Carver Middle School and the American Theatre Company will hosted a program to re-name the Carver auditorium after noted speech teacher and actor Tyrone Wilkerson on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. The ties are significant, as ATC is Carver’s Partner in Education and the late Mr. Wilkerson was a board member and active performer for ATC. Wilkerson began the Carver competitive speech program in the early 1990s, and his students have established a tradition of excellence in district, state and national competitive fronts. As an actor, Wilkerson was most noted for his performance as Ghost of Christmas Present in ATC’s annual “A Christmas Carol” production. The dedication ceremony will officially begin a fund-raiser to support the Carver competitive speech tournament activity.
