Cascia Hall Science Research Team Places First

GOING TO STATE: Cascia Hall’s Science Research Team is headed to state competition for their projects. Team members are Luke Kingsley, Hayden Allen, Gage Holleman, Hannah Easley, Christine Atik, Zachary Haskins and Chase Antonacci.
Cascia Hall’s Science Research Team won First Place Team Honors at the Regional Science Fair. All seven student projects qualified for the state competition.
Gage Holleman was 1st Place High School project, 1st Place Biology Project, and was selected to attend the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Ariz. Holleman also received the Clinical In Vitro Biology Award.
Zachary Haskins was 2nd Place High School Project, 1st Place Behavioral Sciences, and received the American Psychological Society Award.
Hayden Allen was 3rd Place High School Project, 1st Place Physical Sciences and received the Yale Science Award.
Christine Atik was 2nd Place Biology Project for her investigation of “the effects of hydrogen peroxide and sodi- um bicarbonate on E. coli, S. mutans and S. salivarius.”
Hannah Easley received 3rd Place Biology Project.
Chase Antonacci received Honorable Mention Biology Project for his research on “the effects of turmeric on vegetative and social behavior of the slime mold, Dictysolieum.”
Mark Kingsley received 1st Place Environmental Sciences Project, the Stockholm Water Award, the Water Quality Award and the Lane Memorial Soil Conservation Award.
