Cassidy Prag, Blake Brown Named Seniors of the Month

Blake Brown and Cassidy Prag have been named Seniors of the Month for February at Union High School. He is the son of Bret and Kim Brown of Broken Arrow, and she is the daughter of Tom and Becky Prag of Tulsa.
Brown is active in TeePee Crew, Fuse, Union’s production of “Roal Dahl’s Matilda – The Musical,” Theatre Tulsa, Orbit Theatre and leadership at his church. He has received honors for his acting and was named a Top 10 candidate for Mr. Union.
“I am involved in theater,” Brown said. “I am passionate about it because it is something that I work hard in. I don’t think it would be a great career choice for me but it is a fun hobby.” Brown describes himself as a team player “because I would do the most I can to help out and benefit the team even if it meant letting go of something I want. I am working on being a better leader.”
Brown added, “A word that describes me is enthusiastic because most of the time where I am and whatever I’m doing I am usually happy to be there.”
His drama instructor Troy Powell said, “Blake is a wonderful member of Repertory Theater and a real friend to everyone he meets. I am honored to direct him and I am privileged to know him. He is kind, truthful, willing to work hard and a great young man. He truly is what it means to be a Redskin.”
Brown plans to attend Oklahoma State University and major in mechanical engineering. He cites math as making the most impact on him “because it made me realize I wanted to do engineering, and it has pushed me to always work hard.”
Prag is involved in both concert band and marching band, Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and Asbury United Methodist Church with activities like Second Saturdays and the church Easter fair. She was named a Top 10 candidate for Miss Union, a member of National Honor Society, and served on the Uniform Loading Crew for the Renegade Regiment. She has also received a State Regents Scholarship and a scholarship to Oklahoma State University for $2,500 per year.
Prag, a four-time Super Regional finalist, a one-time Grand Nationals semifinalist and a two-time Grand Nationals finalist with the Renegade Regiment, said “I am passionate about marching band. The work I put into it gave me friends and it was an activity that brought joy to my life. I think of myself as both a leader and a team player in different aspects of my life. In band, I am a veteran and lead the underclass with the experience I have gathered. However, I work well with others and know when to let someone else lead, for example, on school projects in which fellow members may be better on subjects than me.”
One of her teachers said, “She’s elite in dedication and transparent in integrity. Cassidy never complains and is always smiling. She’s a gold-medal musician and an even better human being.”
She hopes to study architectural engineering at either OSU or the University of Tulsa.
