College Connection to Benefit TPS Students

TOP STUDIES: Students from Midtown and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to meet with college representatives during the 2011 College Connection held in Tulsa.

In each of the past 24 years, Edison Preparatory High School has hosted College Connection. This event is entirely free and for the benefit of all area high school students interested in post-secondary school education.

The participating colleges, universities and financial organizations pay a small fee to participate, which offsets the cost of sponsoring the event at a public facility, Central Park Hall in Expo Square. This includes the printing and mailing of the 15,000 postcards to juniors and seniors at 100 Northeastern Oklahoma high schools.

Colleges and universities from around the state and country participate, enabling them to reach a high number of students at a very low cost.

Edison PTSA’s target audience is all junior and senior high school students in Northeastern Oklahoma, both public and private. Students in neighboring states are welcome to attend, as well. This may be the only chance a student from a more remote or rural community may have to visit face-to-face with college admissions counselors from across the state or across the country.

Central Park Hall, Expo Square, is over 40,000 square feet, so there is ample room for all those invited to attend in a spacious air-conditioned facility. The doors open to thepublic at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11.
