SUPERMAN: Brett McDade was super for Tulsa as he glides through the air for a basket. McDade, an honor roll graduate, led his team to the championship of the first annual College Basketball Invitational.
HARRY LENTZ for GTR Newspapers
Our local college basketball teams had great years as they both
participated in post-season play. Congratulations to TU Head Coach Doug Wocjik and ORU Head Coach Scott Sutton.
Also, we welcome Travis Ford as the new Oklahoma State head coach. He has been successful wherever he has been and should keep the Cowboys in the national limelight. And OU should be in extra great shape again next year under Jeff Capel as potential All-American Blake Griffin has decided to return to school. Here it is, April, and we are still talking basketball!
Talons Continue Success
Speaking of April, the 2007 af2 Indoor Football Conference Champion Tulsa Talons have started their season with three straight wins, including an exciting 64-60 victory at Little Rock against rival Arkansas, We appreciate the support of the fans, and there is much exciting action ahead of us this season.
We are happy to again have Corey McIntyre associated with the team as general manager. Corey spent the 2002 and 2003 seasons as the general manager for the Talons. He started his career in professional sports after playing hockey for the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League. He has spent the last six years as the general manager for the Tulsa Oilers of the CHL.

OSU-Tulsa
I appreciate Governor Brad Henry reappointing me to the Board of Regents of OSU-Tulsa. The board also consists of Chair Glenda Love, Vice Chair Ed Keller, Secretary Joel Sander, Jim Goodwin, Michael P. Johnson, Jay Helm and Calvin Anthony. We admire the work President Gary Trennepohl is doing to continue the vision of broadening the University’s research capabilities and activities in the Tulsa metropolitan area in addition to offering a fine array of courses through an excellent faculty.
The Tulsa campus has embraced OSU’s “one university, multiple sites” philosophy. OSU-Tulsa maximizes university resources by promoting a partnership where learning and research flourish through sharing faculty and resources with the Stillwater campus.
