Cowboy Golf Finishes Second At Aggie Invite


Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team posted a 366 during the third round at the Aggie Invitational on Sunday to finish second to Texas A&M at Traditions Golf Club.

The Cowboys’ runner-up showing snapped a three-tournament winning streak for the top-ranked squad in the country. totaled a 1,103, 23-over-par total and came in 18 shots behind tournament host Texas A&M at the par-72, 7,146-yard layout. The Aggies closed with a 356 to finish at 1,085, while Texas Tech posted a 366 and finished third at 1,114.

Individually, OSU’s Peter Uihlein rolled to the individual title posting a 71 to finish five shots clear of a pair of players, including teammate Kevin Tway. The Orlando, Fla., native’s 1-under tally moved him to 6-under 210 for the event.

For Uihlein, the victory was his second of the year and first since winning the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational last fall. The junior got off to a quick start with three birdies over his first six holes before turning at 1-under 35. After dropping back to level par with a bogey at the 11th, Uihlein reeled off birdies on Nos. 12, 13 and 16 to move back to 3-under before closing with a pair of bogeys.

Tway carded the squad’s low round of the day with a 2-under 70 to finish at 215 and tied for second. The senior made the turn at 1-over before putting together an inward nine that featured four birdies against one bogey to finish at 2-under for the day.

Junior Morgan Hoffmann came in a shot off Tway’s total, finishing tied for fourth place at 216 after signing for a 72.

Sophomore Drew Page carded a 76 to come in with a 231 total and tied for 41st place, while classmate Sean Einhaus tied for 47th place at 233 after turning in a 78.

Freshman Talor Gooch posted his second consecutive 77 to finish at 234 and tied for 51st place.

The Cowboys will be back in action on April 25 when they travel to Hutchinson, Kan., in search of their fifth consecutive conference title when they compete at Big 12 Championship.
