Cowboy Tennis Handles Western Michigan, 5-2
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 38 Oklahoma State men’s tennis team defeated the defending champion Western Michigan Broncos Friday, improving its record to 3-3 with a 5-2 victory at Louisville’s Bass-Rudd Rudd Tennis Center.
The Cowboys got on the board first after Aleksey Bessonov and Oleksandr Nedovyesov, the 18th-ranked doubles team, and Maxi Kuhn and Ilija Martinoski claimed wins at the No. 1 and 3 doubles spots, respectively, to go up 1-0.
After a loss at the No. 2 spot to start singles play, a two-set win from No. 10 Nedovyesov at the No. 1 position and a loss at No. 6 singles, the score was knotted up at 2-2.
With only three matches remaining, stormed to a win as Eric West, Martinoski and Bessonov all won their matches at No. 5, 3 and 4 singles, respectively.
Oklahoma State returns to action Saturday when it faces No. 10 Louisville at 5 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Rudd Tennis Center.
