Jon Morrison started things off with an 8-3 win over Caleb Flores. Morrison scored the first takedown of the dual in the earlygoing, then Flores got free for an escape. A Flores escape was the only scoring of the second period. Morrison escaped quickly to start the third period, then added another takedown to extend his lead to 5-2. He cut Flores loose to bring the score to 5-3, then added another takedown in the waning seconds to take a 7-3 advantage. When Morrison’s 1:28 riding time was added on, he was an 8-3 winner.
133: No. 1 Jordan Oliver (OSU) fall Ryan Jauch (UNI); 3:17
Jordan Oliver capped a dominating day by pinning Ryan Jauch in 3:17. Oliver’s three bouts Saturday resulted in a win by technical fall, a win by major decision and the pin of Jauch. Oliver took the action to Jauch immediately with a quick takedown and three-point nearfall to go up, 5-0 in the first period. He yielded an escape late in the period. Oliver started the second period on top and immediately locked in a cradle, turned Jauch to his back and pinned him for the dominating win.
141: Josh Kindig (OSU) fall Alec Hoffman (UNI); 1:28
Fresh off having his redshirt pulled earlier in the day and knocking off No. 6 Chris Diaz of Virginia Tech, Josh Kindig made quick work of Northern Iowa’s Alec Hoffman, pinning the Panther at the 1:28 mark. Kindig connected on a quick takedown, then manhandled Hoffman, forced him to his back and pinned him.
149: No. 5 Jamal Parks (OSU) dec. Jamal Lawrence (UNI); 7-3
Jamal Parks controlled the first and third periods in his 8-3 win over Jamal Lawrence. Parks scored two first-period takedowns and allowed two Lawrence escapes to end the period with a 4-2 lead. Lawrence escaped again to start the second period and bring the score to 4-3. A Parks escape to start the third period brought his advantage to 5-3. He added to that with another takedown in the waning seconds that sealed his 7-3 win.
157: Albert White (OSU) dec. David Bonin (UNI); 7-4
Seeing his first action of the day, Albert White picked up a 7-4 win over David Bonin. White scored a takedown then yielded an escape to hold a 2-1 lead after the first three minutes. White opened the second period in the down position and escaped to bring his lead to 3-1. A Bonin escape to start the third period tightened things up, but White bagged a takedown to extend his lead to 5-2. Bonin escaped to bring the score to 5-3 and after a penalty point against White and then a takedown by White, the Cowboy was a 7-4 winner.
165: No. 16 Dallas Bailey (OSU) fall Nick Pickerell (UNI); 0:53
Dallas Bailey wasted no time in pinning Nick Pickerell in just 53 seconds. Bailey scored a takedown, got Pickerell in a headlock and flattened him out for the overwhelming pin.
174: Brice Wolf (UNI) won by forfeit
184: No. 15 Ryan Loder (UNI) dec. No. 10 Chris Perry (OSU); 8-2
No. 15 Ryan Loder of Northern Iowa was dominant in his 8-2 win over Chris Perry. Perry scored the initial takedown of the bout, then yielded an escape before being taken down himself to cap the first period scoring at 3-2 in favor of Loder. Perry started the second period on top and was quickly reversed to fall behind, 5-2. He never got off bottom for the rest of the bout, spending the remainder of the second period, then the duration of the third period on the mat under Loder. In the process, Perry was slapped for stalling and then slapped with a penalty point. When Loder’s riding time was factored in, the Panther was an 8-2 winner.
197: No. 4 Clayton Foster (OSU) fall Joe Johnson (UNI); 2:26
Clayton Foster picked up Oklahoma State’s fourth win by fall in the dual when he pinned Joe Johnson in 2:26. Foster took Johnson down twice, then got him in a front headlock, rolled him over and flattened him out for the pin.
285: No. 14 Christian Brantley (UNI) dec. Tyson Yoder (OSU); 8-4
Seeing the first dual match action of his career, Tyson Yoder lost an 8-4 decision to No. 14 Christian Brantley. Yoder connected on the first takedown of the bout, but yielded an escape and a takedown to fall behind, 3-2 after the first three minutes. Yoder started the second period on top, but Brantley broke free for a quick escape to go up, 4-2. Yoder escaped to start the third period, but was unable to muster any further offense to pick up the upset win.
