Cowboys Host First Round NIT Game
Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State’s Cowboy Basketball team will host the Harvard Crimson on Tuesday, March 15, at 6:30 pm in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament, it was announced Sunday night. The game will be televised by ESPN.
Harvard is 23-6 this season and finished 12-2 in the Ivy League, tying Princeton for first place in the league. The Crimson lost a one-game playoff 63-62 against the Tigers on Saturday, handing Princeton the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Harvard has the highest RPI (35th) of any team in the NIT.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Oklahoma State and Harvard on the hardwood. The Cowboys are 4-1 all-time against members of the Ivy League, including a 2-0 mark against Penn, a 1-0 record against Cornell and Yale, and an 0-1 mark against Princeton.
Colorado and Nebraska of the Big 12 also made the National Invitation Tournament. Oklahoma State is 4-3 this season against participants in the 2011 NIT: Alabama, Missouri State, Murray State and Virginia Tech. Three of OSU’s opponents this season are No. 1 seeds in the bracket: Alabama, Colorado and Virginia Tech.
