Cowboys Lose To Missouri, Take Sixth At National Duals
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Oklahoma State wrestling team placed sixth at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals after losing to No. 13 Missouri, 21-19 Sunday afternoon at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
The Cowboys went 3-2 on the weekend and now stand at 7-2 on the year. Missouri improved to 12-5 on the season.
Oklahoma State raced out to a 9-0 lead in the dual after 125-pounder Jon Morrison upset fifth-ranked Alan Waters by a 3-1 score and 133-pounder Jordan Oliver followed that up with a first-period pin of Nathan McCormick.
The lead went to 12-3 in favor of the Cowboys after the two teams traded victories at 141 pounds and 149 pounds, respectively. Missouri seized control after unranked Tiger Nick Gregoris pinned Neil Erisman at 157 pounds, No. 19 Zach Toal beat Dallas Bailey by a 6-5 score at 165 pounds and No. 18 Dorian Henderson won by injury default over Albert White at 174 pounds.
Still, the Cowboys were able to regain the lead at 19-18 following a win from Chris Perry at 184 pounds and an impressive 12-3 major decision victory from Clayton Foster over No. 11 Brent Haynes at 197 pounds. With the dual set to be decided by the heavyweights, former junior world champion Dom Bradley of Missouri topped OSU’s Tyson Yoder by a 6-1 score to push his team to victory.
The Cowboys return to action when they host reigning NCAA champion Iowa at 2 p.m. next Sunday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The dual will be televised on a tape-delay basis on ESPNU. That broadcast will air at 4:30 p.m. Central time the same day.

Bout Recaps
125: No. 8 Jon Morrison (OSU) dec. No. 5 Alan Waters (MU); 3-1
Facing a wrestler he’ll have to see again later in the season, Cowboy freshman Jon Morrison made a statement by scoring an impressive 3-1 upset win over No. 5 Alan Waters of Missouri. After a scoreless first period, Waters escaped to start the second period. Morrison took him down late in the period to seize a 2-1 lead. Morrison started the third period in the down position and was ridden for some time before spinning free for the escape as the riding time clock hit 55 seconds for Waters. Trailing 3-1 late, Waters had no answer for Morrison the rest of the way.
133: No. 1 Jordan Oliver (OSU) fall Nathan McCormick (MU); 2:41
Oklahoma State’s Jordan Oliver capped a dominant week at National Duals by pinning Nathan McCormick in 2:41. Oliver held a 9-2 lead at the time of the fall after taking McCormick down three times and notching a three-point nearfall. Oliver then locked in a cradle, turned McCormick to his back again and finalized his fall. Oliver’s five results at National Duals were a 20-5 technical fall win over Purdue’s Akif Eren, a 10-2 major decision win over No. 7 Devin Carter of Virginia Tech, a 3:17 fall of Northern Iowa’s Ryan Jauch, a 2:26 pin of Iowa State’s Ben Cash and the 2:41 pin of Missouri’s Nathan McCormick.
141: No. 15 Todd Schavrien (MU) dec. Josh Kindig (OSU); 7-2
Missouri got on the board in the dual when No. 15 Todd Schavrien beat Josh Kindig by a 7-2 score. Kindig opened the scoring with a first-period takedown, but it was all Schavrien from there, as the Tiger escaped in the first period, then added an escape and a takedown in the second period to go up, 4-2. Kindig chose a neutral start to the third period, but Schavrien added another takedown and riding time to finish his 7-2 win.
149: No. 5 Jamal Parks (OSU) dec. Kyle Bradley (MU); 3-1
Jamal Parks scored the winning takedown with eight seconds remaining to beat Kyle Bradley, 3-1. After a scoreless first period, the two wrestlers traded escapes to start the second and third periods, respectively. Like the first two periods before it, the third period was generally uneventful until Parks connected on the only takedown attempt in the bout to win.
157: Nick Gregoris (MU) fall No. 14 Neil Erisman (OSU); 2:35
Missouri’s Nick Gregoris pinned Neil Erisman at the 2:35 mark of the dual to turn the momentum of the dual in the Tigers’ favor. Gregoris took Erisman down early in the bout and had him in trouble the instant the two wrestlers hit the mat. Erisman fought Gregoris’s attempt for the fall for some time before Gregoris flattened the Cowboy out completely and was credited with the pin.
165: No. 19 Zach Toal (MU) dec. No. 16 Dallas Bailey (OSU); 6-5
A late escape from No. 19 Zach Toal of Missouri was the difference in the Tiger’s 6-5 win over Dallas Bailey. Toal took the action to Bailey from the start and repeatedly got to Bailey’s leg. Toal held a 5-1 lead after scoring his second takedown in the second period. A Bailey escape to end the period and another Bailey escape to start the third trimmed Toal’s advantage to 5-3. Bailey then tied the score at 5-5 with a takedown of his own late in the third period, but Toal broke free for the winning escape with less than 30 seconds left to claim his win.
174: No. 18 Dorian Henderson (MU) beat Albert White (OSU) by injury default
After starting the season wrestling at 149 pounds, Albert White jumped up to 174 pounds with teammate Mike Benefiel hurt and suffered an injury of his own during the course of the bout and was forced to default to No. 18 Dorian Henderson. White opened the scoring with a duckunder takedown in the first period, then turned Henderson to his back for a three-point nearfall to go up, 5-0. Henderson escaped to cap the first period scoring. White extended his lead to 6-1 when he escaped to start the second period. Things took a bad turn, however, when White hit his head on Henderson at an awkward angle and fell limp to the mat. White was taken off the mat strapped to a stretcher and wearing a neck brace. The injury default win was given to Henderson.
184: No. 10 Chris Perry (OSU) dec. No. 11 Mike Larson (MU); 3-2
With Oklahoma State trailing in the dual by an 18-12 score, Chris Perry gave the Pokes some life with a 3-2 win over No. 11 Mike Larson. After a scoreless first period, the two wrestlers traded escapes to start the second and third periods, respectively. Perry connected on a takedown in the third period to take a 3-1 lead and after cutting Larson loose, got back on his ankle two more times, but couldn’t connect either takedown bid as the clock hit zeroes.
197: No. 4 Clayton Foster (OSU) MD No. 11 Brent Haynes (MU); 12-3
Clayton Foster finished a dominant weekend at National Duals with a 12-3 major decision win over No. 11 Brent Haynes. A Foster takedown marked the only points of the first period. He added to that with an escape and a second takedown in the second period to take a 5-0 lead. A Haynes escape was followed immediately by another Foster takedown. Haynes escaped to start the third period, only to be taken down again and fall behind, 9-2. Another Haynes escape and another Foster takedown plus Foster’s 3:54 riding time advantage gave the Cowboy his 12-3 major decision win.
285: No. 6 Dom Bradley (MU) dec. Tyson Yoder (OSU); 6-1
Facing a former junior world champion, Cowboy sophomore Tyson Yoder lost a 6-1 decision to Missouri’s Dom Bradley. After scoring two takedowns and an escape, Bradley held a 5-0 lead after the first two periods. Yoder got on the board with an escape of his own to start the third period, but was unable to generate any further scoring. Bradley’s 1:30 riding time advantage brought the final score to 6-1.
