Cowgirl Equestrian Falls in Big 12 Championship
The No. 2 seed Oklahoma State Cowgirls fell to the top-seeded Texas A&M Aggies, 11-4, in the Big 12 Championship finals Saturday.
“I want to congratulate A&M, They had a great day,” head coach Larry Sanchez said. “We made a few mistakes that we intend to correct by nationals.”
The hunt seat team defeated the Aggies, 4-3, but it wasn’t enough to overcome TAMU’s western victory.
Senior Alice White led the Pokes with wins in both English disciplines, including honors in equitation on the flat. Ellie Sparks and Jordan White also earned head-to-head victories on the flat.
“We are very proud of Alice White and her today,” Sanchez said.
The Cowgirls will be back in action when they travel to Waco, Texas for the Varsity Equestrian National Championships. The western team will be the No. 2 seed while the Pokes have the No. 4 seed in the hunt seat.
