Cowgirls Blow Past UTPA, 94-40
STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team won its third-straight game on Sunday afternoon, posting a 94-40 win over Texas-Pan American in front of 2,102 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
With the victory, the Cowgirls improved to 11-1, while the Broncs dipped to 8-9 on the year.
Trailing by one three and a half minutes into the contest, used a 19-2 run over the next eight minutes to build a comfortable lead.
Sophomore Toni Young nearly recorded a double-double in the first half with 10 points and nine rebounds to help send the Cowgirls into the break with a 46-20 lead. Despite playing just 17 minutes in the game, the Del City, Okla., native logged her sixth double-double of the season, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Broncs scored five quick points to start the second half, but once again the Cowgirls clamped down on defense, holding scoreless for nearly 10 minutes while extending their lead to 73-25.
For the fourth time this season, all 12 Cowgirls scored and Young was one of five players to reach double figures.
Freshman Vicky McIntyre paced the Cowgirls with 14 points on the day, while classmate Carissa Crutchfield finished with a career-high 13 points off the bench.
Freshman Tiffany Bias recorded her first career double-double, scoring 11 points while dishing out a career-high 10 assists. Freshman Kendra Suttles added 10 points, eight rebounds and four blocks on the day.
became the sixth consecutive opponent to commit at least 20 turnovers. The Broncs finished with 23 miscues on the day, which resulted in 29 points for the Cowgirls.
UTPA’s Ce’Monay Newell led all scorers with 19 points.
